Nick + Glady

Meet the duo behind Umqua Steelhead Service

Nick

Guide, Umpqua Steelhead Service

Nick Speer was born and raised on the central Oregon coast. He would spend his winter months salmon and steelhead fishing. During the summers, he would follow his parents to Bristol Bay, Alaska where his mom was a head chef and his dad was a bush pilot guide. As a second-generation guide following in his dad’s footsteps, Nick manages, pilots, and guides from June–October at the Alaska Sportsmans Lodge. This leaves the winters open for Nick to enjoy one of his favorite Oregon rivers — the Umpqua!

Nick has lived in the Umpqua valley since 2013 and enjoys showing people what this river and valley has to offer.
